Movie Reviews: Humshakals

Movie review ‘Humshakals’: Zero star?

                                                                           (Comedy)

Movie: Humshakals

Cast:  Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Tamannah Bhatia, Esha Gupta, Chunky Pandey

Director: Sajid Khan

Humshakals is three times trash:

If Himmatwala couldn't break your limit of endurance, Humshakals definitely would. Watch just 15 minutes of Humshakalsand you'd be disavowed of that notion.
Sajid Khan has yet again proved all that he knows about film making is - take a bunch of actors to London, try to spin a logic defying story, add some of the worst PJs ever, push slapstick comedy several notches below by cracking jokes on disabled, homosexuals and foreigners and have a climax that will make you bang your head against the wall.

Even by the pitiable cinematic standards that the director has so defiantly set for himself, Humshakalsis the very pits. It scrapes the bottom of a barrel that seems to have no bottom at all.  Humshakals is an execrable comedy of horrors that plumbs the depths of stupidity and crassness.

Go with story, then all it has is a supposed 'comedy of errors' involving three lookalike. An old billionaire is in coma, his only son Ashok is a stand-up comedian.  Ashok's scheming uncle 'Kans mama' wants to take take over his property. The uncle plots to send Ashok and his friend Kumar in a mental asylum.
In the asylum, we meet Ashok and Kumar's lookalikes. Also present there is the uncle's lookalike who is a dreaded criminal. After few reels three more lookalikes appear on the screen. How and why? Don't ask.
In between, we meet a sexy secretary, a pretty show anchor, a hot lady doctor, a mad metal asylum warden and a smuggler with two dwarfs as his bodyguards.
Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Kapoor are stupendously bad. Bipasha, Tamannah and Esha were signed only to strut and smile. They fail miserably at that too.
For Sajid Khan, I can only say that Humshakals will be listed in one of the worst films of the century.

Heed the warning:  Humshakals is infinitely more insufferable. Even if you possess plenty of himmat, use it elsewhere.
